Projects.

This all started when I attempted to archive all my data (ohhh, just ten years' worth) to one 160GB drive, and then that drive failed. Click, click, click. Since then, this time in my life has mighty-morphed to include the following:

  • Restore/archive all data onto new, massive drive
  • Upgrade inherited iMac G3 ("Kihei") to become print and backup server
  • Consolidate beige PowerMac G3 and B&W PowerMac G3 into web server
  • Consolidate two PowerBook G3s (Wallstreet 13" and 14") into media server
  • Clean out PowerBook G4 (Titanium) to become mobile workstation, primarily for GarageBand
  • Install the most recent OS version possible on all machines
  • Install wireless networking (802.11g if possible) on all machines
  • Figure out a robust backup strategy
  • Standardize all archives to DVD or other "solid state" media

The overall vision is to have dedicated machines for basic functions, putting old hardware to good use and having duplicates of all working data.
